In the realm of precision parts heat treatment applications, a groundbreaking innovation has emerged – the flexible heat treatment production line. This state-of-the-art system offers unparalleled versatility, enabling users to flexibly select a wide range of heat treatment processes, including quenching (oil quenching and water quenching), tempering, normalizing, annealing, and carburizing.                                                                                                    

At the heart of this advanced production line is the bottom-loading vertical multi-purpose furnace, which the heat treatment features a unique split structure between the furnace and the quenching tank, along with a vertical axial design. This heat traetment significantly reduces the quenching transfer time, ensures rapid temperature and atmosphere conversion, prevents oxidation and decarburization, and enables low-distortion heat treatment. Through computer simulation design of the furnace atmosphere fluid dynamics, the heat treatment continuous improvements have been made to the furnace circulation system structure, minimizing air flow short circuits and enhancing the uniformity of furnace temperature and atmosphere. As a result, the heat treatment qualification rate has been substantially increased, and excellent consistency in product quality has been achieved.

Structural Features of the Bottom-Loading Vertical Multi-Purpose Furnace

The furnace is composed of a quenching tank, a heating furnace, and a control system. The quenching tank is structurally separated from the furnace, and the heat treatment only comes into contact with the quenching tank during quenching. All mechanical devices can be adjusted, calibrated, and maintained from the outside without the need for production downtime.


The heating furnace can move left and right and is designed based on the axial principle, ensuring excellent furnace temperature uniformity (±3°C to ±5°C) and uniform distribution of the furnace atmosphere (Cp: ±0.05). With a full-fiber furnace lining, the furnace achieves rapid temperature and atmosphere conversion while consuming less gas.


High Precision in Temperature and Atmosphere Control                                                                                        

Temperature Control: The furnace temperature control precision reaches ±0.5°C to ±1°C, and the temperature uniformity of the loaded (fully loaded) furnace is ±3°C to ±5°C.

Carbon Potential Control Precision/Cp

Cp = 0.4%C: ±0.05%C

Cp = 0.8%C: ±0.05%C
Cp = 1.2%C: ±0.05%C
Cp = 1.4%C: ±0.05%C

Rapid Furnace Temperature and Atmosphere Conversion

For the P500 furnace model, the heating rates from room temperature to 950°C under no-load and fully loaded (500kg) conditions have been tested. The test results show that under no-load conditions, the furnace can reach 950°C from room temperature within ≤2 hours. After being fully loaded with 500kg, it only takes 58 minutes to return to 950°C. Thanks to its unique furnace body design, significant energy savings have been achieved. When the tested furnace temperature is 950°C, the surface temperature rise is ≤35°C.


Carbon potential conversion speed tests on the P500 furnace model have shown that under empty furnace conditions, at 880°C, it takes 7 minutes for the carbon potential Cp to rise from 0.45%C to 1.0%C and only 3 minutes to drop from 1.0%C to 0.45%C. At 950°C, it only takes 6 minutes for the carbon potential Cp to rise from 0.2%C to 1.2%C, and it takes only 10 minutes to drop from 1.2%C to 0.2%C. The furnace gas atmosphere conversion is also extremely rapid.
